"From the main page:

Asylum On 5th Street was officially cancelled without being completed on 1/26/2006 due to poor financial performance, lack of interest, and personal reasons of the artist. There are no current plans to continue work on the comic at a future date. Archives will no longer be available for the general public."

And I've learnt a valuable lesson about, you know, checking things out before I write 'em.

Yep... It is a feature and not a bug of autobiograf. comics that there will be plenty of stuff that has been done before; I know a few that only raport funny happenings, but they're mostly on a more sporadic schedule. Real life isn't exactly a comedy.

Well, I don't read either of those comics (or more than a handful in general), but perhaps they come up often because they are fairly universal human experiences.

In no way do I intend to belittle your personal experience. This is one of the difficulties of discussiong biographical or "semi-biographical" comics - without in depth interviews with the creator you don't know where the "real life" is and where the comic is.

But reading #164 as a comic, it is a bit too "Cathy" for my tastes, and #157, again only as a comic, is a bit too "Dilbert" - or maybe "Office Space".

#157: That literally happened almost exactly as illustrated. Well, except me breaking in half. Is that the overused part?

Some of the comics are direct translations of real life events, some are things that I added a punchline to, some are things that were just inspired by similar events. In the books I go through strip by strip and explain every one of them. You are really only getting part of the story in each comic.

#164: Body image is something I have struggled with since being a child (I did NOT have a pleasant childhood), and I go through that scenario getting dressed almost every day of my life. I write about it in the second book. There is not a joke there.

Not all the comics are funny. They're not supposed to be. I'm glad you enjoyed my strip though.

I do rather like Crap I drew, I also think her spin off comic, Asylum on 5th street, is worth a look, although I do not know when it is to be updated again.
